The third International conference "Neurocomputer Interface: Science and Practice" was held on October 12-13, 2017 at Samara State Medical University.
The conference program included plenary reports by such leading Russian and foreign scientists and experts as Slimane Bensmaya (University of Chicago, USA), Alexander Kaplan (Moscow State University, Russia), Mikhail Lebedev (Duke University, Durham, USA), Alexey Osadchy (HSE, Moscow, Russia), Maria Sanchez-Vives and Melvin Slater (ICREA- University of Barcelona, Spain), Suryo Sokadar (Institute of Medical Psychology and Behavioral Neuroscience, Tubingen, Germany), Doron Friedman (Interdisciplinary Center Herzliya, Israel), Alexander Frolov (IVND RAS), Sergey Shishkin (SIC "Kurchatov Institute") and others. The collection of abstracts of the conference is available in the scientific electronic library eLibrary.RU and indexed in the RSCI. The high level of reports and organization attracted significant media attention. The videos of the plenary reports were published on the BCI: Science and Practice video channel. For the first time, the topic of the use of NCI in the diagnosis and correction of psychiatric disorders was discussed at the conference. Presentations of poster presentations by young scientists, round tables devoted to topical practical problems of using neurocomputer interfaces were held. The work of rehabilitation devices based on NCI and virtual reality, as well as the Neurochat communication complex, was demonstrated. Neurorrestling competitions were held, a sport that has not yet been included in the Olympic program. The traditional friendly dinner with jazz accompaniment performed by conference participants Dmitry Makhlin and Slimane Bensmaya was extremely lively and allowed the participants to communicate in an informal atmosphere. Excursions to the Technopark and the Center for Breakthrough Research of SamSMU, as well as to the city center, were organized for nonresident guests.
Russian and foreign neurophysiologists, neurologists, rehabilitologists, specialists in the mathematical analysis of complex signals, specialists from innovative companies, students and postgraduates of medical and technical universities, all interested in the topic of neural interfaces and neurorehabilitation, were invited to participate.
The reports were read in Russian and English with simultaneous and consecutive translation. The conference was accredited by the Continuing Medical Education system.
